Welcome to 506 Realty Costa Rica
Real Estate and Investments
Costa Rica
is a small country in Central America. The "Rich Coast" as Columbus
named it, is actually a strip of land between Nicaragua and Panama, bathed
by both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. The two beautiful coasts
of Costa Rica would take your breath away.
Costa Rica has long been a destination for biologists, researchers, students,
and nature lovers because of its rich bio-diversity. Today, more and more
people travel to this exotic destination to enjoy the warmth of it's people,
and the beauty of it's lands. Costa Rica's climate is considered to be
amongst the world's most pleasant, and with everything from sun-bathed
beaches to tropical rainforests, you are sure to find the right place
for you.
Costa Rica is one of the most stable democracies in all Latin America,
and has a long history of peace being the first country to abolish its
Army. The people are friendly, and educated, and depending on where you
are, they are very likely to speak English. Now, if you want some immersion
with the culture and the language, this would also be a great place. Costa
Rica has many (and some very good) language schools. You can actually
go around in certain towns, and find a few language schools that have
immersion programs. These schools take advantage of the fact that Costa
Ricans have a very distinctive way to speak, as well as a very neutral
accent, which helps people learn a very useful kind of Spanish.
How does immigration work? In Costa Rica the law is pretty much the same
for every one. You can come in with a 90 day tourist visa that you can
get directly at the port of entry (airport, border, or port). By law,
you have to leave the country when your visa expires, and some people
just take a trip to Nicaragua or Panama and come back in. That is all
you need to get another 90 day visa. If you where planning to move to
Costa Rica, you might want to apply for a longer visa, or resident status.
The government is also promoting foreign investment by allowing people
to get automatic resident status in certain cases (very well worth looking
into) And no, you do not loose your citizenship from another country for
becoming a resident of Costa Rica. Even if you became a citizen, Costa
Rica allows dual citizenship.
Legally Speaking, Costa Rica grants the same property rights to the owners
of Real Property without regards to their nationality. This is good for
foreign investors who don't even need to be a resident to buy property.
Now there is something that needs to be understood: in Costa Rica your
property rights are not affected by your immigration status, but likewise,
your owning a property does not mean that you can forget about immigration
policies.
